What do we do basically
Stretch a wire over a table, clamp it
Then add masses over a pulley to extend
Measure extension for different forces,
Rearrange to find young modulus
What kind of pulley should you use

Use a control so you always can compare against ORIGINAL LENGTH ,
2) also if anything happen to temp and wire changes, wire will change to both , but relative extension is constsnt
How to measure the diameter of micrometer for area? Accuratllry
Use a MICROMETER (0.01 mm) and measure diameter across length, take average for diameter
How to measure extension ?
Vernier calliper ( 0.1mm)
How to reduce uncertainty (what to do with lengths and area)
Make length as much as possible, reduce
Greatest uncertainty probably in extension, so reduce area the most to make it extend the most and reduce uncertisnty

How to measure orignal length?
Add one mass to make it taught , but then measure extension beyond this , so calibrate vernier back to 0
How to read vernier?
See where 0 links up with that’s the mm scale
Then see where the first line matches the scales and count the division to there
