- moving into new situations
- move away for higher education / some start a family right away
- expected to take financial responsibility
- make decisions for self and think logically

- taking longer now than it used to - because now there are MANY more options for what we can do after high school (tech school, work, bachelors degree, etc)
- options not as clear cut
- options USED to be determined by family, gender and financial status and this isn’t true anymore
- less people transitioning directly into work - don’t have much data on them

-we have lots of data of this

Young adult health concerns
A
- pregnancy a concern
- more worried about STIs
- NC has gone backwards in sexual edu practices

Pregnancy
A
- have to present all options for the mother - termination; adoption; keeping it
- if abort, need to make sure it’s a good place to go

HIV
A
-used to be scary, now with all treatments it isn’t as bad

Substance abuse
A
- focus is on how it affects brain development
- drink in moderation

Sexual assault
A
-more common in this age group, but people don’t admit it

Mental health
A
- lots of mental health issues in this age group
- the time when a lot of psychotic illnesses begin to present themselves (schizophrenia, bipolar, etc)

Suicide
A
- social media threats of killing themselves and people will read and have fear
- social media is an easy tool for getting attention and needing help
