Year 9 Chemistry Flashcards
4 factors that affect reaction rate
Concentration, Pressure, Temperature and Surface Area
What is concentration?
Concentration is a measure of the amount or number of particles in a given volume
2 examples of increasing concentration
Increasing the number of particles whilst keeping the volume the same or by decreasing the volume and keeping the number of particles the same
What can reactions be?
Fast or slow
What can a reaction rate be?
Low or high
Pressure only affects reaction rate of what state of matter?
Gas
A collision resulting in a reaction is what?
A fruitful collision
Particles need a certain amount of energy to be fruitful. What type of energy is this?
Activation energy
What increases the average kinetic energy of particles?
A temperature increase
