What is Islam ?
The religion of the Muslims, a monotheistic faith regarded as revealed through Muhammad as the Prophet of Allah.
Who was Muhammad ?
He was the founder of Islam
What is the Quran ?
The Islamic sacred book, believed to be the word of God as dictated to Muhammad by the archangel Gabriel and written down in Arabic.
Why is the Quran important?
The most important holy book among Muslims.
Name the five pillars of Islam .
Zakah, salah, sawm, shahadah and hajj.
What does hajj mean ?
Hajj means Muslims need to make a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lifetime.
What does zakat mean ?
It’s 2.5% of a persons wealth given to charity.
What does sawm mean ?
Fasting from dawn til’ dusk during Ramadan.
What does salah mean ?
It’s how Muslims pray: 5 times a day.
What does shahadah mean ?
It’s the confession of faith to Allah and the religion.
Where is the first place you go during hajj ?
You go to Mecca and circle the Ka’aba 7 times.
Where is the 2nd place you go during hajj ?
Marwah and Safa hills where they run/walk between them. (Where Abraham’s wife tried to get water for her daughter).
Where is the 3rd place you go during hajj ?
Arafat : they stand here from noon til’ sunset praying for forgiveness.
