Double Entendre
A word or expression capable of two interpretations
Convention
A technique employed regularly in the drama so that the audience come to attach specific meaning to it.
Tragic Hero
Type of heroic character who is usually flawed or makes a mistake in judgement in some way.
Hamartia
An error or flaw that leads to the tragic hero’s downfall or death.
Reversal
A change of decision or direction or fortune, often to the opposite.
Soliloquy
A monologue that is delivered when the character is alone.
Femininity
A set of attributes, behaviors, and roles generally associated with women and girls.
Oppression
To treat in a way that is cruel or not fair: Many dictators have oppressed the citizens of their countries.
Archetype
A character with known qualities, behaviours and motives. Examples include: hero, villain, wise sage.
Subvert
To overturn or overthrow from the foundation; to overthrow it or stop its normal way of functioning
Misogyny
The hatred of, contempt for, or prejudice against women or girls.
