- locate
- open overhead cabinet to left of the door
- isolation switch to MOTOR RELEASE
- manually close the door
- isolation switch to MOTOR LOCK CLOSE
- apply “do not use” stickers
- FMP
What four fault indications might you get for traction faults?
Where would this traction fault be?
On the car in which this light is illuminated.
Where would this traction fault be?
This is a train lines fault light so it indicates there is a fault somewhere on the train.
What does this fault light indicate?
2 things
- one or all Tacho Speed sensors have failed
- failure of one or both Tachometer
Where is the Tachometer CB located?
In the trailer to the left of number 2 door
What will happen in regard to speed when ALL tacho speed sensors or tachometers fail on BOTH units?
The 0.5 km/h speed threshold is not able to be read by the TCU
What will happen to the affected equipment when tachometers fail on BOTH units?
DUST Bp V
- Door Release Button won’t function
- Uncouple Button won’t function
- Speedo won’t function
- Trip can’t be reset
- Brake pipe pressure won’t be restored after Emy application (train rescue)
- Vicers can’t be reset
How do you by-pass the tachometer failure on both units? (DUSTBpV)
2 ways
- Train Stable
- Tacho By-pass switch
How do you reset an inoperative DTRS?
DTRS Micro Breaker (MCB)
When Auto Announcement fail, at what three times do drivers need to make manual PA announcements?
JET
- junctions
- express running
- terminal stations
What do both of these fault indicators mean?
Indicate an MCB has tripped on the train
Below what pressure would you get this fault light?
650 kPa
At what MR pressure will the safety loop open and what will happen?
580 kPa
the train will fail and Emy brake will apply
What Circuit breakers would you check in leading cab with these fault lights?
23Q1 & 23Q2
What would these fault lights indicate?
Sticking brakes
Apart from the fault lights what else might indicate you have sticking brakes?
5 things
- sluggish
- retardation of the train
- smoke
- smell
- both fault lights will extinguish when stationary
What would these fault lights indicate?
Locked axle in the leading motor
What would these fault lights indicate?
Locked axle on Trailing MOTOR
What would these fault lights indicate?
Locked axle in TRAILER CAR
If there is voltage but it is under 90v what happens?
Train is declared disabled
If there in no volts on voltmeter and step light is NOT illuminated what could be possible causes?
4 things
- Step light is defective
- storage batteries are flat
- batteries are isolated
- battery box fuse blown
When an Xtrap is stabled, how long will ALL marker lights and EMERGENCY saloon lighting remain illuminated for?
15 minutes
How do you stable on a mainline?
- TEC to obtain permission
- PA prior to stable indicating saloon lights will be reduced for 2 mins
- close door
- train stable
- high voltage light extinguishes
- once ‘1 or more Panto down’ status illuminates wait 5 seconds
- remove key
- confirm Pantos have lowered
- wait approx 2 mins and reactivate
- test fault has cleared
- FMP
How many times can a fault be reset?
3
