Xray Tube Flashcards
heart of the xray machine
Xray Tube
Which part of the x-ray tube do you think is responsible for generating electrons?
the filament generates electrons when heated. the process called thermionic emission
How do you think the vacuum inside the x-ray tube affects its performance?
- ensure that electrons do not interact with air or another outside particle that disrupts the quality of the image
- reduction and efficiency of the x ray production
What happens when there will be a crack in the metal enclosure
- the electrons would lose energy through the air conditions.
- results in the reduction of efficiency of xray production
- can potentially damage the xray tube
What is Lead shielding and what is its importance in our field?
Absorbs stray or scattered Xray, protecting patients and Radtech from unnecessary radiation exposure. Lead because it has a dense atomic number which effectivly blocks the xrays.
How does the anode rotate inside an enclosure without any mechanical connection with the outside (rotating anode)
Through the electron magnets
