XMSN Flashcards
What drives and supports the Main Rotor (MR) / it’s modular design has _ deg forward tilt?
MGM with a 3-degree forward tilt.
What is the input mod connected to on the engine?
Output Shaft connected to the NP Turbine.
What is the purpose of the Input Mod?
Takes power, changes the angle of drive, and transfers it to the main module.
What does the Input Mod contain that allows for automatic separation from XMSN? ( NR Exceeds NP)
Freewheeling Unit.
What does the input module drive/ what does the follow on item drive?
Accesory Modules and they drive
Electric and hydraulic power generation.
What drives the Main Rotor System?
Main Module
How many chip detectors are there?
5 Detectors (2 Accessory Mod + 2 Input Mod + 1 MGB).
At what oil temperature will the burnoff feature deactivate?
At what age do most young men start shaving?
140 Celsius.
Does the IGB/TGB have a temperature sensor?
YES.
What caution displays when Main TXSM temperature exceeds 120?
Main TXSM Oil Hot.
INT XMSN OIL HOT or TAIL XMSN OIL HOT caution will appear when?
Temps hit 140 Celsius.
What activates the Main XSM Px Hi Advisory?
65-130 PSI.
What activates the Main XSM Px Hi Caution?
Above 130 PSI.
What is special about the Chip detector in the MGB?
It waits an additional 30 seconds to confirm chip detection.
What cautions may appear after the chip detector burn off feature deactivates?
Chips will still be detected
INT XMSN OIL HOT or TAIL XMSN OIL.
What is the chip Ibit Testing for?
To verify
circuitry and checks the individual chip detectors
How long does the chip Ibit take to run?
How long am I Vulnerable for?
2 minutes total; WCS(s) and master caution disabled for 40 seconds.
What connects the output shaft to the Input Module?
Diaphragm couplings.
Input Mod–> MGB–>____–>___–> Tail rotor
Intermediate Gearbox (IGB)
Tail Gearbox (TGB).
What is the built-in angle of tilt for the TGB?
20 degrees.
Will the filter allow things through even if it’s dirty?
YES.
What activates the Main XMSN Press Low / what side is it located on ( Give the # not just right and left)
Pressure drops below 14 PSI on the #1 side.
What module contains the pressure senor that is displayed on the VIDS?
MGB.
Where is the temperature for the vertical instruments sensed for the system
In the sump, which is embedded in the MGB chip detector
What activates the Main XMSN OIL HOT?
Temperature goes above 117 degrees.
Which side of the system has the Nr Sensor for the VIDS?
Right Accessory Module, also known as the #2 side.
Where is the Low Oil Pressure sensor and TDI located?
The #1 side.
What else does the XMSN cool off?
Main generators
When oil leaves the wet sump, where does it go first?
Goes through the filtered screen.
Where can the crew see the PDI on the aircraft. / if popped when does it need to be chnaged ?
In the cabin; it means it needs to be changed at the end of the flight schedule.
Where is the Tail Rotor drive extra energy donated?
Running the oil cooler.
Where is the XMSN temperature sensor that activates the advisory located?
Within the Chip dector embeded in the Wet sump
What are the advisory and caution ranges for the XMSN HOT sensor?
Advisory: 105 less than120 Range; Caution: Above117
Where is the PX Sensor sensed that is displayed on the Mission Display?
After the oil cooler.
What activates the Low Px Advisory Light Switch?
Less than or equal to 30 PSI Nr is is greater than or equal to 25 %
What is the accesory module connected to?
It’s respective input module
The sensor that activates the MAIN XMSN OIL HOT is located after what two compoents?
MGB as a whole
Located after the oil cooler and the Pressure sensor that is connected to Aircraft display
