NATOPS Misc Flashcards
What is the tail rotor preflight check for IGB?
Fluid within the bullseye, should not be able to see the bottom of the outer circle.
What is the tail rotor preflight check for TGB?
Fluid within the lower/upper limit lines; cap secure (not overserviced or red tinted).
What is the tail rotor indexer status during preflight?
Retracted.
How does halon work to fight a fire?
Limit oxygen in the air causing a fire to suffocate.
Why are the fuel levers in crossfeed for start?
To test the cross feed ability of the lines.
What is the minimum nitrogen pressure if > 27C / 16C?
1650 psi / 1575 psi.
What should you check if the rotor brake caution is illuminated prior to engine start/ can I just start anyway / # PSI for activating that light switch
Check in detent, 0 psi, don’t start up. AT (indication) / AM for servicing hydraulic rotor brake line / 6-8 psi for indication to come on.
Why is torque a good indicator of LDS malfunction? Delete
LDS malfunction corresponds to collective position and will result in max input to HMU, so EDECU will not be able to trim down torque sufficiently.
When are anti-flap restraints released?
Above 35% Nr.
What are the droop stop positions?
50% / 70%.
Can you do hit checks with an observer?
Yes.
What should you do for rotor brake slippage on water wash?
Pull PCLs off and release rotor brake.
What is HIRSS?
Hover Infrared Suppression System; lowers the IR signature of the aircraft but increases exhaust backpressure causing 2-2.5% loss in power available; APU exhaust does not route through HIRSS.
What is added to the windshield reservoir if < 0C?
50% water / 50% isopropyl alcohol solution.
Explain the difference between parameter limiting and engine limiting.
Parameters: NATOPS imposed limitations which are the direct result of design analysis, tests, and operating experience. Compliance with these limitations and restrictions will permit safe and effective employment of the airframe. Engine limiting: Reaches a governing position as part of T700 design HMU fuel flow and TGT limiting.
