7
Q

What should you check if the rotor brake caution is illuminated prior to engine start/ can I just start anyway / # PSI for activating that light switch

A

Check in detent, 0 psi, don’t start up. AT (indication) / AM for servicing hydraulic rotor brake line / 6-8 psi for indication to come on.

Q

Why is torque a good indicator of LDS malfunction? Delete

A

LDS malfunction corresponds to collective position and will result in max input to HMU, so EDECU will not be able to trim down torque sufficiently.

13
Q

What is HIRSS?

A

Hover Infrared Suppression System; lowers the IR signature of the aircraft but increases exhaust backpressure causing 2-2.5% loss in power available; APU exhaust does not route through HIRSS.

15
Q

Explain the difference between parameter limiting and engine limiting.

A

Parameters: NATOPS imposed limitations which are the direct result of design analysis, tests, and operating experience. Compliance with these limitations and restrictions will permit safe and effective employment of the airframe. Engine limiting: Reaches a governing position as part of T700 design HMU fuel flow and TGT limiting.

16
Q

Define ground resonance.

A

Ground resonance is a self-excited mechanical vibration that involves the coupling of the MRBs, specifically the lead-lag motion, with the in-plane motion of the rotor hub and the aircraft on its landing gear. Destructive, unusual, rapid onset without warning.

17
Q

Why do we lower the collective in LTE?

A

Lower left, decrease anti-torque requirements.

18
Q

How do we have T/R control in servo failure?

A

Boost servo is still pressurized and provides control. Less effective towards ends of ranges.

19
Q

Which direction does the nose yaw between 25 and 145 for cable failure?

A

Excess thrust, left yaw.

20
Q

Do the stab jackscrews act in series or in parallel?

A

In series, each providing 1/2 input. Mx moves stab via DC one remains neutral.

21
Q

What is the reset function of generator switches?

A

Resets the GCU if it was disabled or disconnected from buses.

22
Q

What happens when DTC is inop?

A

Lose: Np, Nr, Ng, fuel, TGT, Q indications.

23
Q

What are ways to kill the starter?

A

Pull handle, pull CB (behind pilot head, or upper pilot panel), air source switch off only if the APU is already off

24
Q

What does EDECU code 15 indicate?

A

May result in EDECU driven engine failure due to high / low side.

25
Q

Why do we keep the AVCS off when on deck for prolonged time?

A

On deck, AVCS analyzes vibration nulling solution on 5 minute cycle and can cause erroneous solution causing excessive and continuous vibes (exacerbated on ship).

26
Q

When Shall AVCS IBIT BE run? How long does it run for and what will the result be?

A
  • Shall only be initiated with rotors static to avoid damage to dynamic components; - Causes aircraft shaking for 30s, will not result in structural damage, all nonessential personnel remain clear.
27
Q

What is Mode 1?

A

A nonsecure method used by ships to track aircraft and other ships.

28
Q

What does NATOPS recommend regarding chip malfunctions for main transmission?

A

Reduce load on that module; PCL to idle for input, turn off gen for accessory.

29
Q

What are the fuel low light timings?

A

5s to turn on, 20s to turn off.
