Foodborne Illness
An infection or irritation caused by food or beverages that contain harmful bacteria, parasites, viruses, or chemicals
Foodborne-illness Outbreak
When two or more people get the same illness from the same contaminated food or drink
Contamination
The action or state of making or being made impure by polluting or poisoning
Time-temperature Abuse
A certain poin when bacteria will start to grow in cooked foods such as meats, fish, pork, and poultry that have been left out at room temperatures
Cross-Contamination
The process by which bacteria or other microorganisms are transferred from one substance or object to another with harmful effect

Foods that need time and temperature control for safety
Ready-to-eat Food
Food that is normally eaten in its raw state or processed food
High-risk Population
People who are more prone to catching and dying from or having serious problems from an illness that can be found in food
Immune System
A complex network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to defend against germs
