A political system in which the state/government is deemed more important than the individuals.
Nazi
A national socialist party of Germany,led by Adolf Hitler
Appeasement
A policy of giving into the demands of a nation to prevent war.
Lend- Lease Act
A law giving Franklin Roosevelt the power to sell, transfer, exchange, or lease military equipment to any country to help defend themselves against the Axis powers.
Pearl Harbor
A harbor in Hawaii that serves as the base of the U.S Pacific fleet and was bombed in 1941 by Japan
Internment
The imprisonment of Japanese Americans in special camps during WWII
D-Day
An invasion of Nazi-occupied France by Allied Forces
Bataan Death March
A force march of American and Filipino soldiers captured by the Japanese along the Bataan Peninsula.
Island Hopping
A strategy used by U.S forces in the Pacific during WWII that involved taking only strategically important islands.
Kamikaze
Japanese pilots who flew suicide missions during WWII.
Battle of the Bulge
(1944-1945) The last German advance of WWII, which was stopped by Allied Forces.
Holocaust
A program of mass murder in which the Nazis tried to kill the jews.
Manhattan Project
The U.S effort to build an atomic bomb.
Adolf Hitler
The leader of Germany from 1933 to 1945. He was the leader of the Nazi party and started World WarII by invading Poland and then invading many other European countries. He is also known for wanting to exterminate the Jewish people in the Holocaust.
Joseph Stalin
Was a communist revolutionary and politician who led the Soviet Union from 1924 to his death. In the Soviet Union, Stalin created a totalitarian political system now called Stalinism
Axis Powers
The coalition of nations in WWII that included Germany, Italy, and Japan.
Allied Powers
A group of nations that allied to fight the Central Powers in WWI and those countries in opposition to the Axis Powers in WWII.
Winston Churchill
Was an inspirational statesman, writer, orator and leader who led Britain to victory in the Second World War. He served as Conservative Prime Minister twice - from 1940 to 1945 and from 1951 to 1955.

The first African-American military aviators in the United States Armed Forces
Dwight Eisenhower
The 34th president (1953-1961)

Native American soldiers, primarily from the Navajo tribe, who used their indigenous languages to transmit coded messages on the battlefield.
