League of nations?
The league of nations is an international organization proposed by Woodrow Wilson aimed to prevent war and resolve conflicts between countries.
Laissez-faire economics
An economic idea that reaches for minimal government interference in the economy.
This idea was made during the 28th century.
Kellogg-Briand Pact
an agreement among nations that they would not use war as a foreign policy tool and would solve their differences differently.
Also known as the Pact of Paris. It failed because of the lack of enforcement.
Teapot Dome Scandal
A political American scandal in which Albert B. Fall got bribed into leasing government oil to two private oil companies illegally in the early 1920’s. Warren G. Harding was president at the time.
Assembly Line Production
A series of individual workers assembling a project, each performing a specific task in a particular sequence.
Laws of supply and demand
The theory that prices are determined by the relationship between supply and demand. Capitalism.
New Deal
A series of domestic programs, public work projects, and financial reforms/regulations enacted by President D. Roosevelt in the United States between 1933 and 1938 with the aim of addressing the Great Depression which began in 1929.
Neutrality and isolationism
The idea that Americans should stay out of European wars. These policies were enacted through a series of laws passed by Congress between 1935 and 1937. This idea was created due to the tensions of WWII growing stronger.
(These acts aimed to prevent the US from getting involved in foreign conflicts by prohibiting the sale of arms to belligerent nations.)
St. Valentine’s Day Massacre
A gang related attempt in 1929 to eliminate Chicago’s North Side Gang Leader, Bugs Moran. Seven men got murdered.
Flapper
A fashionable young woman who challenged social norms in the 1920’s on intent of having fun.
Red Scare
A period during the Cold War where Americans were terrified of communists and the spread of communism. 1919-1920
