Kellogg-Briand Pact & it’s problems
A pact that made war illegal as a tool of democracy
Problems:
1.Not enforced
2. Gave Americans false sense of security
Neutrality Acts
An attempt to keep the US out of war. It limited the sale of weapons to nations that weren’t at war.
However, Roosevelt found a way around the acts to aid Britain/Allies
Repealed when the US enters WWII
Rome-Berlin-Tokyo Axis
An alliance between Mussolini (Italy), Hitler (Germany), and Japan. These three wanted military expansion and dictatorship.
Appeasement & examples
A policy of granting concessions to potential enemies to maintain peace.
- Allowed Germany to expand it’s army and transportation infrastructure
- Allowed Hitler to send troops into the anti-militarized Rhine Land
- Hitler expanding his territory to Czechoslovakia
What areas of the world were targeted by each of the Axis Powers?
Germany- Poland
Japan- China, Philippines, Burma, Malasia (Wanted to make Asia for Asians)
Italy- Yugoslavia, Albania, Ethiopia

Munich Pact
Britain and France gave into Hitler’s demands and persuaded the Czechs to surrender. Hitler promised he had no more plans to expand his territory.
