is the policy of one country extending its power and influence to create an empire/trying to build an empire. (through colonisation or invasion)

is the policy of a country developing powerful weapons and military forces – for defence or attack/Building up armed forces, getting ready for war.
Alliances
are agreements between two or more countries/Agreements or promises to defend and help another country.

Lone Pine
August 6-10 1915 At Lone Pine, Australian forces captured Turkish trenches and held these while British and New Zealand forces attacked elsewhere. After 3 days of fighting at Lone Pine, over 2000 Australian soldiers were killed, wounded or missing.
The Nek
August 7 1915 At the Battle of the Nek, Australian Light Horsemen and New Zealander forces tried to capture Turkish fortifications. One charge alone at the Nek killed 234 Australian troops.
