What is imperialism?
A policy of extending a country’s power and influence through diplomacy or military force
What is Trench warfare?
Type of combat in which the opposing sides attack, and defend from trenches dug into the ground.
Why was trench warfare used?
To protect soldiers from heavy firepower.
What pests and diseases were spread?
Rats and lice
How was life in the trenches?
Boring and diseases spread easily
What problems did they face in the trenches?
Big rats, diseases like lice, and trench foot
What weapons were most effective?
Machine guns, artillery, rifles, etc.
What new weapons are we introduced to in World War I?
Tanks, machine guns, planes, poison gas, flamethrowers, submarines, and etc.
What weapons were ineffective?
Poison gas, cavalry, and flamethrowers
Which weapons from WWI do we still use today?
Tanks, aircraft, machine guns, naval ships, etc
What is the sinking of the Lusitania?
Germany owned U- boat torpedoed a British steam boat with 128 Americans
What was the Zimmermann telegram?
Telegram Germany sent to Mexico to form an Alliance if the US entered the war. The British intersected the telegram and gave it to the US
Why was the US threatened by the Zimmermann Telegram?
Because Germany said that they would help Mexico gain back some territory of the US that they had lost
