Surveillance search mode
12 rpm
Radar: 0.25-160nm
IFF: 100yds-160nm
Standard long range, surveillance, large contacts (ships, aircraft), optimized for high sea states and adverse weather
Srch cstl
Coastal search
12rpm
Radar: 0.25-160nm
IFF: 100 yds-160nm
Optimized to display coastline detail in grey shade
MMR components
- Radar reciever/transmitter (r/t)
- Antenna array and IFF interrogator R/T (aka antenna/pedestal = A/P)
- Radar data processor (RDP)
- Radome
- IFF Mode 4 crypto
- Waveguide assembly
- Waveguide dehydrator
What two types of radar do we have?
- AN/APS-147
2. AN/APS-153(V)1
R/T
Radar recieve/teansmit generates a transmission pulse and converts the recieved pulse into a usable form for the RDP to process
A/P
Allows controllable antenna position and provides MMR/iFF interrogation signals for transmission
Meaningn a/p hardware talks with RDP for control information and status reporting
RDP
- Processes the raw radar and IFF interrogator data to form “tracks” (which are displayed on MD)
- RDP recieves data from different interfaces coa the mission computer (1553 data bus)
- Provides IFF interrogations control, IFF code validation, and contact reply correlation
Radome
Houses and protects a/p from environmental damage
Transparent to RF energy
Iff mode 4 crypto
Provides encryption/decryption for secure IFF Mode 4 ops
Waveguide assembly
- Transmots voltage standing wave ratiom from r/t to a/p
2. Transmits x-band radiation
Waveguide dehydrator
Connect to the radar waveguide for moisture removals
Sensor range
1.23 x square root of altitude

LMR
Land mass rejection
Has no effect on iff tracks
Reject land via enable/inhibit
