Oft 11 (Ins Mins, Egi Alignments, Etc) Flashcards
Minimum reqs for standard instrument rating
- 50 hrs of actual or somulated IMC
- NATOPS eval
- WITHIN 6 months: 6 hrs of actual/sim IMC, 12 approaches in actual/sim IMC (6PA/6NPA)
- WITHIN 12 months: 12 hrs of actual/sim IMC, 18 approaches in actual/sim IMC (12PA/6NPA)
- IMC hours and approaches from previous instrument evaluation flight may be applied to mins if check ride occurs within 12 months of “current” instrument eval
- 1/2 of minimum rating requirements can be completed in an approved flight simulator
- CNATRA is authorized to issue initial instrument rating after finishing instrument syllabus in training
Renewing expired instrument rsting
- FNAB if you just let it slip
- for those returning to flying duty from “grace period exceptions” or combat ops ashore (where unable to fulfill reuqirements) only need to complete NATOP eval and 6 month requirements

Nav subsystems do what?
Collect flight information and navigation data that is processed and displayed via FD/MD

SH
Stored heading
-quick launch on ground requiring completion of GC alignment prior to shutdown, proper shutdown, parking brake set, then SH alignment selected on start

To -> to (nav mode)
Ground track between 2 waypoints
To -> from
Establishes leg to a waypoint (creates leg/track based on set bearing to said waypoint)
Cont -> to
Homing to a waypoint
Continously points at waypoint/ftp
Drct -> to
Establishes ground track from current location to waypoint/ftp
-go directly to this point from here
What is considered an unusual attitude?
- attitudes over:
- 30° pitch
- 60° AOB
Generally:
- Nose high
- Nose low
- High bank angle
Nose low is desired condition to complete all recoveries
ITO
- normal hover
- @15 ft us radalt and lower nose 5° below hover att
- climb at 90 kias
- when pass thru trans life may req nose adj

Lvl speed change
- 90 kias s&l
- Slow to 70kias for one min
- Accel to 120 kias for one min
- Slow to 90 kias for one min

Timed turns
Put the puck in the box
20% of A/S for SRT
- Cardinal heading, roll in 3 secs prior
- Adj pwr to maintain alt
- Roll out 1/3 bank angle prior (30° aob = 10° prior roll out)
Tacan p2p
Tacan = center
Bigger dme on outer ring
Pencil method it
Vertical s-1
- 90 kias s&l. Any head
- 3 secs prior transition to 500fpm climb (1 min)
- Cross check every 15 secs = 125ft
- Lvl off approx 50ft prior (10% of fpm rate)
- Fly s&l for 1 min
- Then do same for descent with 3 sec lead
Oscar pattern
2 mins= full circle
30 secs =45°
- S&l at 90 kias
- Start 3 secs prior turn and climb (500fpm and SRT)
SRT at 90kias = 18°
- S&l for 1-2 min
- 3 second lead to reverse turn and descend
Holding
1 min legs
