The significant battle —— the Battle of Trenton
E: this battle prevents 80% of the leaves of soldiers
R: After winning this battle, the army has the confidence that they could win this war. So most of the soldiers chose to stay. Because of that, the Patriots still had soldiers to fight with Britain. So, this is a significant battle
E: this battle gives the basis to the victory of the Battle of Princeton
R: 1. the reason for Princeton: Britain is angry about the battle of Trenton, so they decide to take it back.
2. the place for Princeton: the winning of Trenton had given place to fight and the strategy to fight
3. the power for the Princeton: the battle of Trenton gives the soldiers and the support from the militia. With them, Washington won the battle.
E: this battle shows the will power of the continental army and the ability of Washington
R: that winter, the army has less clothes and supplies. Even when they were in bad condition, they still crossed the Delaware River, which was full of ice.
The significant battle——the battle of Saratoga
E: a specific evidence shows how the Continental Army uses the terrain to beat the enemy which is stronger than the Continental Army
R: In the Battle of Saratoga, the army used the benefit of terrain to beat the enemy
E: the victory of the battle of Saratoga is the reason why the French gave the American army supplies and soldiers to fight
R: After this battle, the French gave the Americans soldiers, supplies to fight. After the help from the French, the continental army became much stronger, which gave a lot of help to end the revolution war. Also with the French’s help, Americans won the Yorktown battle.
The significant battle—–Valley Forge
E: In Valley Forge, the soldiers are almost dying because of the bad environment, but they are still alive
R: in the Valley Forge, there are diseases, less food, less shelter , less supplies and cold winter. This is almost a desperate situation, but they were still alive by their knowledge and willing power. ( list the things they did to prevent death,)
E: In alley Forge, they got help from French, then had a big change in the strength of the whole army
R: Baron von Steuben trained the soldiers, and gave them supplies and new weapons. After that, they had the strength to fight with Britain. The strength of the Continental Army gets a big change after that
The significant battle—— the battle of Concord
E: This is the first battle of the revolution war
R: this battle is between the British soldiers and the militias, because of the conflict between them. That caused 8 militias to die, this is the first situation that caused the real casualties between British and Colonists
E: In this battle, it is the first time the colonists gathered together to fight with Britain. These militias also are the basis of the Continental Army
R: in this battle, the colonists gathered together just by themselves and fought with Britain for their rights. This improved the unify between each colonists and colonies, let the colonists realize the war is going on, and gave the motivation and the model to the colonists to fight with Britain. The people who are involved this battle, also joined the army for revolution
The significant battle—— the battle of Bunker Hill
E: this battle is all organized by civil forces
R: this battle happened in a neighborhood, on a hill, all the fighters here are all public people, no one was trained, they did all this because of the anger towards Britain. The happening of this war, also means the relationship between the colonists and Britain is developed to an untunable level.
E: Although Britain won this battle, they still paid more cost for the winning, their soldiers died more than the American’s
R: in this battle, American people’s strategy has gave British soldiers a painful lesson, they use less people and less weapons to beat British, although they lost because of the less supplies, but they still prove that Americans has enough ability to beat British by strategy
