Wrist Flexion

A

Forearm is supinated, wrist is extended, and fingers and thumb are relaxed
“Bend your wrist all the way forward and do not let me push it back”
Apply resistance over the volar surface of the hand
Prime Movers: Flexor Carpi Radialis or Flexor Carpi Ulnaris
Gravity Eliminated: forearm in midposition, wrist extended, fingers and thumb relaxed

Wrist Extension

A

Forearm is supported on a table in full pronation with fingers and thumb relaxed
“Lift your wrist as far as you can, and do not let me push it down”
Apply resistance to the dorsum of the hand
Prime Movers: Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus or Brevis, Extensor Carpi Ulnaris
Gravity eliminated: forearm is supported on the table in mid position with the wrist in a slightly flexed
