Q

Shoulder Internal Rotation

A

Client is prone with the humerus abducted to 90°. The elbow is flexed to 90° and hangs over the edge of the mat
“Lift the palm of your hand toward the ceiling”
The humerus is held just proximal to the elbow to allow only rotation
The therapist’s hand, placed on the volar surface of the distal end of the forearm, pushes toward the floor. The other hand keeps the patient’s elbow supported and flexed to 90° to prevent supination
Prime Movers: SPLAT (Subscapularis, Pec Major, Latissimus Dorsi, Anterior Deltoid, Teres Major)
Gravity Eliminated: prone with entire arm hanging over the edge of the mat. The arm is in external rotation
