What is a Marjolin’s Ulcer?

Marjolin’s ulcer is a malignant cancer that can occur from a site of chronic inflammation. It is fairly rare and may have a latent period typically of some 30 years. It can occur in burns (95%), osteomyelitis, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and fistulae. Typically in 95% of cases histology is consistent with a SCC. BCC, melanoma and sarcomas make up the remaining 5%
