Wound healing Flashcards
Two phases of inflammation phase?
vascular response
cellular response
Cardinal signs of inflammation
edema redness warmth pain loss of function
Key cells in cellular response? (inflammation)
platelets, PMNs, macrophages, mast cells
Key cells in proliferation phase?
myofibroblasts, angioblast, fibroblast, keratinocyte
3 phases of wound healing?
inflammation- control bleeding, fight infectious agents
proliferation- lay down tissue, pull wound together, migration
Maturation- collagen synthesis. strengthen/reorganize
What type of factors can affect wound healing?
general- onset, location
local- circulation, sensation, stress
systemic- age, nutrition, comorbidities, meds
clinician- appropriate vs. inappropriate
2 types of wound closure
- primary- edges approximated w/o formation of granulation tissue (pt doesn’t see)
- secondary- wound heals by being left open (pt)
DIME stands for what?
debridement
infection/inflammation
moisture
edge affect
