Pathology behind CKD?

A

ANG 2 released and causes constriction

inflammatory cells change structure of glomerulus (sclerosis), GFR decreases

Stages of CKD

A

1: normal GFR (greater than 90)
2: mild decrease 60-89
3: moderate 30-59
4: severely 15-29
5. ESRD less than 15

How will a patient present?

A
anemia, fatigue
CVD *#1 cause of mortality in esrd*
GI problems 
bone pain, fx
sleep is off, confusion

What can PT address?

A
fatigue 
exercise (use RPE) 
monitor vitals/labs 
careful with fluid restrictions and shunt in arm/leg(no BP)
slower progression
