A

when the sat -65C, polar routes.

21
Q

What are your options to raise fuel temperature?

A
  • Increase mach number
  • change altitude to a warmer air mas
  • change route to a warmer air mass
22
Q

What is GOMEX?

A

Airspace above the Gulf of Mexico

23
Q

How many LRNS required in GOMEX?

A

1

24
Q

Optimum HF can vary with the sun angle. As a rule of thumb what frequencies are better with a lower sun angle vs a higher?

A

Low frequency = sun setting

High frequency = sun up

25
Q

Takeoff weights above 300,000 lbs should be considered what?

A

Heavy

26
Q

When must you fill out howgozit log?

A

When operating on or off airways in non-surveillance airspace

27
Q

Where is the ICAO differences and special procedures located?

A

Jepp app, under “pubs”

28
Q

When do you make a logbook entry for IRS drift?

A

IRS drift greater than 2 NM per hour and a/c operated in non-surveillance airspace more than one hour.

29
Q

If your ETA is more than how many minutes in oceanic airspace ATC should be notified?

A

2 minutes.

30
Q

Can you offset left of center line with SLOP?

A

No, only right

31
Q

What transponder code should you set in oceanic non-surveilance airspace? What are the exceptions?

A

2000, Exceptions:

  1. North Atlantic High Level Airspace (Nat HLA), wait 30 min after entry before switching to 2000.
  2. In WATRS airspace. Reykajavik OCA is the same.
32
Q

When must you monitor raw data?

A

When GPS is not functioning:

  • Prior to descending below grid MORA, one pilot will manually tune each nav aid to confirm the proper inboud or outbound track
  • When operating into or out of an SAQ, must monitor raw data below grid MORA
  • At all other airports, after confirmation, both pilots may use FMS map mode for sit awareness.

*must remain alert to sudden map shifts, monitor raw data if this occurs until position can be verified. Do not use egpws.

33
Q

When must you complete a SELCAL check?

A
  • prior to entering airspace requiring two- way, long range ATC communications
  • When changing frequencies within the same ATC sector
  • When changing ATC sectors on the same frequency, unless ATC instructs the crew to “MONITOR”
34
Q

What is SATCOM used for?

A

2 way telephone communication (expensive) and acars datalink.

35
Q

RNP - 10 and RNP - 4 require what distance of lateral seperation?

A

10 = 50 nm and 4 = 30 nm (Tracking up to 4 nm for 95% of flight time)

36
Q

What does PTAPTP stand for?

A

Position, Time, Altitude, Position ( next fix), Time ( next fix), position (name of following fix)

37
Q

When will wpr reset not work?

A

outside of 100 nm abeam the original point.

38
Q

How do you become familiar with political issues occurring in countries you may fly over?

A
  • Deltanet corporate security web page

- U.S. State Department web site

39
Q

If loss of cpdlc, data-link update who must you contact? If working, how quickly should you respond?

A

ATC and dispatch. try to respond within 60 sec with stby at a minimum

40
Q

Ocean contigencies for emergency situations, how should you navigate?

A

5 nm offset to the right and descend below FL290 if needed. Offset +/- 500 ft if unable to contact ATC

41
Q

Which way does the ITCZ shift in the summer and winter?

A

Shifts south in the winter and further north in the summer

42
Q

What does GRID MORA provide?

A

No nav aid or signal coverage. does provide 1000 ft of terrain clearance and 2000 in mountainous areas

43
Q

What does MEA mean?

A

Ensures acceptable navigational coverage and terrain clearance.

44
Q

What does MOCA mean?

A

Lowest published altitude between radio fixes and meets alt clearance requirements and meets signal coverage within 22nm.

45
Q

A
  • Sufficient in length and width

- able to accommodate the aircraft landing with 60 percent of the effective landing distance.

A
  • Same as adequate

- Also, meet wx min requirements

49
