Flight Controls Flashcards
What helps provide feel in control columns if a loss of hydraulic pressure occurs in the C and R system?
Mechanical Springs
What are the 3 modes of stabilizer trim control?
Electric, Alternate and Automatic.
What are the indications of an uncommanded stabilizer movement?
UNSCHED STAB TRIM light illuminates, EICAS MSG and Caution sound. Push column in opposite direction to stop runaway
In what way does stab trim rate change?
The trim rate increases or decreases with respect to a/c speed.
What does STAB TRIM light mean?
- one of the two stabilizer brakes has failed to release when the electric trim switches are commandnig movement
- one of the two trim motors has failed.
*causes the stabilizer to trim at 1/2 normal rate
Can you trim with the alt trim if AP is connected? what about CA or FO trim?
Yes, but unschd stab trim msg will illuminate. NO will disconnect AP
What are the two types of automatic trim occur?
Engaged AP or mach speed trim system when the AP is not engages. 1/2 normal rate.
Is it normal for YAW Damper inop during aircraft wakeup?
Yes, until the IRS alignment completes
What restricts the movement of the rudder during high speed flight?
The rudder ratio changer.
When does SPEEDBRAKES EXT caution msg display?
- flaps are in landing position or
- RA is 800 ft or below
What are some considerations when manually deploying spoilers upon landing?
a nose up moment may occur, which can result in a tail strike.
When will the speedbrake lever in the armed position deploy?
- Hydraulic pressure exists in both landing gear truck tilt actuators
- both truck tilt actuators detect a no-tilt condition (a/c on ground)
- both thrust levers are at idle.
- speedbrakes deploy when reverse thrust is used regardless of lever position.
Leading edge asymmetry protection is available in what type of operation?
Nrml or Alt
Any time an asym or disagree flap or slat config the flap and slat hydraulic drive is shut off?
Yes, the one exception is when a TE FLAP DISAREE occurs if the flap lever is not in the detent for a period of time.
What if hydraulic power is lost, how are the slats and flaps moved?
the a/c is equipped with an alternate drive system that uses electric motors to move the flaps and slats.
