When and why did the second world war turn against Hitler and the axis?
A
Stalingrad 1942-43
The German armies moved forward in the Soviet Union and Hitler ordered the army to take the city of Stalingrad. Unfortunatley for them, the USSR was prepared to fight and Germany lost 90,000 soldiers, forcing them to surrender.

Why were civilians at greater risk of death during ww2?
A
They became military targets and bombing could be affecting their homes. It was quite a large war, therefore there was more risk of dying than before.
