What is the definition of World-View?
How a group or society views the world and how others view them.
What does “Time” mean in relation to World-View?
Time shines over all other elements and never changes, the way we view time impacts us. All the other elements revolve around time, this is because your whole worldview can change over time.
What does “Geography” mean in relation to World-View?
Geography is a factor such as climate, landforms, and location
What does “Society” mean in relation to World-View?
Certain people have a higher status, this is called social hierarchy
What does “Beliefs” mean in relation to World-View?
Beliefs is a factor that relates to religon
What does “Values” mean in relation to World-View?
Values are things that are important to us, when a group shares a value it is called a worldview.
What does “Economy” mean in relation to World-View?
Economy is about money and resources
What does “Knowledge” mean in relation to World-View?
Knowledge is things that we understand about the world.
Explain the Formula Isolation - Intercultural Contact - Change
ISOLATION: When a person or group is cut off from others by geological, ecological, or social events.
INTERCULTURAL CONTACT: The contact and relationships between many cultures and how each culture is different form each other.
CHANGE: How people and adapt and their point of view and goals change over time. Change is how someone becomes different.
Provide and example for the Worldview Formula
A long time back the First Nations of Canada were isolated from the other countries and didn’t have contact with others. One day white Europeans traveled to Canada, they met the First Nations and started to claim the First Nations land as their own, trying to convince to First Nations to embrace the European culture. Nowadays the Europeans that currently live in Canada greatly respect the First Nations people.
