What is an acropolis?
A citadel fortified part of an Ancient Greek city.
What is a Parthenon?
A temple that sat on the hill of the acropolis at Athens. Dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena.
Who was Homer?
He wrote the epics called “The Iliad” and “The odessey” about the Trojan war.
Who was Zeus
Leader of the Gods; god of storms.
Who was Plato?
A student of Socrates, taught Aristotle, founded an academy.
Who was Socrates?
A Greek philosopher known for the Socratic method of question and answer.
Who was Aristotle?
He was a philosopher of the sciences.
Who was Herodotus?
The “father of history”.
Who was Alexander the Great?
King of Macedonia. Spread Hellenistic Culture.
What are legions?
A Roman military formation/group.
What is a Mercenary?
Someone paid to fight, usually someone out of country.
What was the Pax Romana?
Is a roughly 200 year long timespan of peace in the Roman Empire.
What language was spoken in Rome?
Latin; languages derived from this are called romance languages.
What is Christianity?
A religion, that sprouted from Judiasim, worshipped Jesus.
