The pasteboard is that area around the page where you can put objects that you might need while you design but that will not be printed.
The Workspace refers to how the entire InDesign window is configured—the panels on the Panel Dock , the tools that are displayed on the top level of the Toolbar , etc.

You may want to set the view quality of artwork, why?
And how?
For fast working on a slower machine:
View>Display performance>Typical (low res 72dpi)
On a fast machine & where you want to see your image in high quality, the end result then >High Quality.
You can then zoom in closely & your images will be high quality (ie high res) [presuming the image can support quality with the zoom].
This is the same as viewing the image in PS.
How do you change a ruler’s measurement system e.g. from inches to mm, or points to cms?
And how to change system for whole document?
RC the ruler.
RC on square that intersects rulers.
Preview mode allows you to better see the end document, it grey’s out anything in the pasteboard.
What’s the menu item & short cut?
View>Screen Mode>Preview
(Short cut: ‘w’, providing you are not editing text of course as you would just type ‘w’.)
Preview hides all non-printing objects and pasteboard goes grey.
You can actually work in preview mode as edge of objects appear when cursor is on top.
