Q

Just like text, you can not copy and paste graphics from other applications into ID - instead how do you get graphics into ID?

A

File>Place>browse to file.

ID will place into existing frame or create a new one for you.

The icon changes indicating what ID is going to do of the above two options.

After placing, click outside of frame to deselect.

Place by clicking and dragging to create a new frame, scaling the graphic to the frame size in the process.

ID honours transparent files from native PS files.

The bagel icon aka *** **** enables you to move the image inside its frame!

A

content grabber - its sits in the centre of the image/frame

If you click elsewhere and drag the image you will land up moving the whole frame around, instead of fine tuning the position of the pic or other content in the frame.
