Footnotes
Provide additional information or to acknowledge sources for text in a document – bottom of page on which the reference appears. It is in references tab in footnotes group.
Endnote
Same thing as a footnote, but it goes at the end of the document. Insert endnote button in footnote group to insert endnote.
Translate Feature
In review tab – used to translate single words or short passages of text into another language.
Citation & Bibliography Group
Help keep track of resources used to write a paper.
Citation
Short reference, usually including the author and page number – gives credit to the source of a quote or other information in a document – in reference tab.
Master list of sources keeps track of all citations used in paper
Works Cited
Lists only the works that are included in citations in your document.
Bibliography List
Lists all the sources you used to gather information for the document.
Default
listed alphabetically by author.
APA
American Psychological Association – uses author-date system
MLA
Modern Language Association providing guidelines for writing and documentation of research in the humanities, especially in English studies.
Equation
Insert tab.
Equation Tools Design Tab
- Tools: built in equations
- symbols: selects commonly used math symbols
- structures: selects common structures such as fractions and radicals.
Table of Figures
Lists all the figures used in a document.
Figure
Any object such as a chart, a picture, an equation to which you can add a caption.
