What is workforce planning?
Workforce planning is when an organisation (usually the HR department) can plan the turnover of staff, the amount of available candidates to hire and training for employees already within the company in advance.
What are the pros and cons of workforce planning
The pros of workforce planning are that organisations can plan when there is going to be a high number of candidates to hire and maybe plan an expansion during that time, they can also plan when a high number of staff are going to leave so they could start advertising for vacancies in advanced so they are not left short staffed. This also means that they can plan staff training so they have done it by the time they would need to use any of the skills. A con of workforce planning is it takes up resources in the HR department so if your HR department are understaffed, they might not be able to do other important HR things
