What procedures could an employer put in place to help support employee relations?
They could put in grievance to help work out problems that employees are facing, have an absenteeism policy to deal with employees who have a high absence rate, have a procedure for disciplining employees who are not following the rules, a dismissal procedure to make sure all dismissals are fair and justified, have a plan in case redundancy is necessary.
What is a trade union?
Trade unions are organisations which support and represent employees.
What is ACAS
ACAS(the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) helps settle disputes between employers and employees, they can also provide training to employers about how to improve employee relations and stop issues from arising.
What is a work council and what is a consultative committee?
Works councils are made up of employees and managers that come together to discuss things that might impact the business, this makes workers feel more involved and valued. A consultative committee is similar to a work council but it can include other stakeholders like customers or members of the community.
What is a Worker director?
A worker director is an employee that is voted onto the board in order to show the interests of the workers, this can make employees feeling like they have influence.
