Cardiovascular
Refers to heart, arteries, veins, and/or smaller blood vessels.
Intensity
RPE (rate of perceived exertion) - how hard your body is working during physical activity.
Maximal heart rate
Limit to how fast our heart can beat during physical activity.
Repetitions AKA reps
Single execution of an exercise.
Resistance
Weight or load.
Sets
Number of repetitions done in a succession e.g. 1 set = 10 reps.
Exercise
Form of physical activity planned to improve or maintain fitness.
Resting heart rate
Number of times your heart beats while resting.
Target heart rate
Effort required for cardio-respiratory improvement in fitness.
FITT principle
Frequency, Intensity, Time, Type.
Power
Maximum amount of a force as fast as possible (speed + strength = power).
Speed
Preform a movement as quick as possible.
Balance
Ability to stay upright while standing/moving.
Reaction time
Time it takes to respond to stimulus.
Coordination
Ability to select the right muscle at the right time to achieve a proper action.
Strength
Amount of force a muscle can exert in a single contraction.
Flexibility
Joints are able to maintain the movement necessary for carrying out daily tasks.
Agility
Ability to change direction and control body movements.
Cardiorespiratory endurance(aerobic fitness)
Ability to preform exercises of a moderate to high intensity for an extended period of time.
