  1. Wood chips are washed to remove dirt and bugs
  2. Then heated to turn into uniformed fibres
  3. fibre drying
  4. After the hot press, they are placed in the cooling wheel
  5. Finishing

*sometimes they keeps the wood chips to make panels which are called particle board

  • a lot of ikea furniture uses particle board
  • can’t pai. Over cause it’s very choppy and soaks all the paint like a sponge

How is laminate (HPDL) made

A

-multiple layers are fused together under high heat (paper is included) which is layer of craft paper with resin
1. Paper is coated with resin and dried in ovens
2. Decorative paper is cut and melamine is applied on top to seal
3. Phenolic treated Kraft paper is added to the layers
4. Then they are all pressed with heat and sanded together (the heat Melts the resin so everything sticks together
