Soviet women continued to be given equality with men, and many more types of work were now open to them than before the Revolution.

What did the new Family Code of 1936 entail?
Made it more difficult to get a divorce, and restrictions were placed on abortion. The state also paid a child allowance to married couples.
What image of women was promoted?
The image of the women as a supporter of the male worker and mother of a family was promoted, instead of the independent woman.

Denounced and sent to labor camps or asylums.
What happened to Kollontai and Krupskaya (Lenin’s wife and a leading revolutionary)?
They were forced to state publicly that they no longer believed in female equality.
Which women were now criticized and not admired?
Women who devoted themselves completely to the Party and neglected their husbands and children.
