> Equal voting rights to men

> 1933- gave newly weds a loan of 1000 marks which encouraged them to have children
How did the Nazis encourage large families?
> On Hitler’s Birthday each year, medals were given to women who had many babies
> Divorce allowed if couple were infertile
What was the Lebensborn programme?
Unmarried women could become pregnant by the SS and donate the baby to Hitler.
When were women dismissed from the professions and what replaced this?
1934, replaced by Kinder, Küche, Kirche- focused on family life. Women expected to be good wives and mothers.
When and why did the Nazis allow women to get back into work?
In 1937 to get ready for war
How was the appearance of women restricted in Nazi Germany?
> Not allowed to wear make-up
> Only allowed flat shoes
> Trousers not allowed
> No slimming- thought to be bad for child-bearing
> No smoking
> Long hair put in a bun or plaits
