How did the Nazis control teachers?
All teachers were expected to join the Nazi party (95% by 1934) and were sent on training courses during the holidays
How did the Nazis control the curriculum?
Girls were taught domestic skills whereas boys were taught science and military skills
What was the RAD (National Labour service)?
It was compulsory to join if you were unemployed and they worked on job creation schemes
What were job creation schemes?
Nazis reduced employment by putting money into large projects
What was the DAF?
May 1933 the DAF replaced trade unions and were meant to ensure pay and conditions for workers, however the DAF usually favoured the employer
What was the KdF?
Set up to create the image of a bright and prosperous future for the German people
Improvement in standard of living
More jobs with most men in work
Average wages rose by 20%
KdF provided leisure activities and holidays
Decline in standard of living
Invisible unemployment meant many were still employed
Cost of food rose
After the ban of trade unions workers had fewer rights

171 homes were destroyed
