WK2: Wrist Components Flashcards
1
Q
Standard Friction Wrist
Wrist Components
A
- Friction increases with each turn or partial turn of TD
- Pronation and supination will change friction resistance
- Range of friction can be adjusted by placing washers
2
Q
Advantages
Standard Friction Wrist
A
- Low cost
- lightweight
- simple
- relativley durable
3
Q
Disadvantages
Standard FrictionWrist
A
- Friction is NOT constant
- Rotation of TD changes friction
4
Q
Advantages
Constant Friction Wrist
A
- Low profile
- maintains constant friction in any position of rotation
5
Q
Disadvantages
Constant Friction Wrist
A
- not heavy duty for axial loads: adjusted by set screws
- maintenance
6
Q
Quick Disconnect Wrist
A
- quick and easy to swap terminal devices
7
Q
Flexion Wrist
Wrist Components
A
- constant friction wrist that allows flexion of TD in one plane
- flexion pathway both medial and radial: allows device to flex slightly towards midline and also toward radial
- used in bilateral cases on one side
8
Q
Advantages
Flexion Wrist
A
- allows wrist flexion
- locks in 3 different positions of flexion
- allows terminal device rotation with constant friction
9
Q
Disadvantage
Flexion Wrist
A
- flexion motion is fixed in one plane
10
Q
Wrist Flexion Unit (Sierra Flexion Wrist)
Wrist Components
A
- allows rotation in any direction
- component added to existing wrist
- bilateral involvment
11
Q
Advantages
Sierra Flexion Wrist
A
- allows wrist flexion in any plane
- locks in 3 different position of flexion
- constant friction for TD
12
Q
Disadvantages
Sierra Flexion Wrist
A
- Added lenght
- added weight
