wk 4 Flashcards
Habituation
Decline in tendency to respond to stimuli once it
becomes familiar
2 factors affecting the likelihood of learned associations (in cognitive classical conditioning)
Contiguity= Timing of the CONDITIONED stimulus (footsteps)before the UNconditioned stimulus (taser) (must be slightly before) in order to learn association.
Contingency- How likely the unconditioned stimulus is to follow the conditioned stimulus
who highlighted evidence of instances where classical and operant conditioning learning is not possible using a maze
(Latent learning)
Edward Tolman
2nd Order Conditioning
For example, an animal might first learn to associate a bell with food (first-order conditioning), but then learn to associate a light with the bell (second-order conditioning).
