many are dangerous and inappropriate as pets

zookeepers have contact with the animals, this is a different relationship then with pets at home, they avoid physical contact. they watch for things like boredom (pacing), non responsive or wont care for its young

nurse and nurture the animal though recovery the return it to the wild
black bear
most familiar and common bears, typically live in forests but are also found in mountains and swamps and campsites. live anywhere from Canada to northern Mexico
Canada goose
waterfoul and spend as much time on land as they do in the water, breed all through North America, except the high Artic and extreme southern parts of the USA and Mexico
cougar
second largest wild cat found in the America, tend to roam where they wont be seen. most are in western Canada, but are seen all over Canada
eastern grey squirrel
prefer expanses of mature, mixed forest. they use trees for nests. all over n.a and have been introduced into some European countries
grizzly bear
second largest land carnivore in na. solitary animal. found in western Canada as far as the eastern boundary of Manitoba, also some western states
pacific loon
most abundant loon in na. prefers to dwell in waters such as bays, channels, coves and fresh water lakes. mostly along the Pacific coast, in the summer it can also be found in northern Canada and Alaska
polar bear
the only one that is considered a marine animal, can be found from James bay to northern Ellesmere island and from Labrador to the Alaskan boarder
raccoon
increasingly found all over the country, some consider it a pest
red fox
generally lives on the edges of wooded areas prairies, and farmlands, found all over Canada. one of the most wide spread mammals
white tailed deer
most common of all na large animals. also most wildly distributed.
