What is fibromyalgia?
A
Chronic widespread pain
• >3 months
• Found on both sides of the body
• Above and below the waist and along the axial spine

What are the other features of fibromyalgia?
A
- Lethargy
- Difficulty sleeping
- Cognitive impairment

What are the risk factors for fibromyalgia?
A
- Low household income
- Lack of further education
- Female sex
- Family Hx
- Trauma
- RA

How do you diagnose fibromyalgia?
A
- Widespread Pain Index (WPI) and Symptom Severity Score (SSS)
o WPI ≥7 and SSS ≥5 OR WPI 4-6 and SSS ≥9 - Generalised pain: pain in 4/5 regions
- Symptom’s present ≥3 months

How do you manage fibromyalgia?
A
- Nonpharmacological`; Exercise, CBT, acupuncture, hydrotherapy
- Screen for anxiety and depression
- Pharmacological : Duloxetine, pregabalin, tramadol, low dose amitriptyline
