Why Organisms Are Different Flashcards
Who do genes operate?
They operate a molecular level to develop characteristics that can be seen
Why do plants and animals result to having similar characterises, the parents?
Because they share similar genes to them, which are passed on in the gametes from which the offspring develop
What do offspring develop from?
The gamete cells
What does the nucleus of a cell contain?
It contains chromosomes. Chromosomes carry genes that control the characters is of the body
What do different genes control?
The development of different characteristics of an organism
Difference in the characterises of different individuals of the same kind may be due to difference in:
The genes they have inherited (genetic causes)
The conditions in which they have developed (environmental causes)
Or a combination of both
What are sex cells called?
Gametes
