One of the 99 names of Allah means ‘The Just’
Justice is a central part of Allah and therefore he expects everyone to treat each other justly also
Allah judges everybody on Judgement Day
“…those who … conduct themselves with … injustice in the land … shall be sternly punished.” (Qur’an 42:40)
Those who have not treated other people justly will not be shown mercy and will be punished, the just will be rewarded; that is the justice of Allah
Muslims want to go to heaven as an eternal place of happiness and so will act justly to ensure this reward
Teachings in the Qur’an
“Believers, conduct yourselves with justice and bear true witness before God.” (Qur’an 4:135)
Muslims believe they have a duty to work towards a just society
Muslims should follow the teachings in the Qur’an as they give them guidance
Zakah
Zakah is the third pillar of Islam and requires a Muslim to share out 2.5% of their surplus income amongst those less fortunate than themselves
As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, Zakah is one of the most important Muslim practices and must be satisfied in order to live a good life according to Islam
Muslims regard this as a simple justice because it is working towards a more just society
