MBChB Dundee course
First 3 years
• Course starts with 8 week foundation block that explores the fundamental science of medicine
• Learn about body systems, exploring normal and abnormal functions then move into clinical cases
• Learn anatomy by dissection
• Use of thiel-embalmed cadavers – retains life-like quality tissue which allows for an experience unlike nay other medical schools in the UK
After first 3 years
• Opportunity to intercalate and earn a BMSc in a range of subjects
• Years 4 and 5 move into clinical training – consists of a series of placements in different disciplines and allows you to put your knowledge into practise.
Intercalated degree
- 1 year after the first 3 years of the course
- Take a year out of the MBChB course to study a topic/topics in depth
- Ranges from basic science and clinical research to education and teaching
- Allows you to decide where your preferred career in medicine lies
- Opportunity for independent research, and exposure to new people and contacts.
- Enhanced communication skills.
