Q

One of the strongest temptations that man has to meet is appetite. The mind and the body…react upon each other. To keep the body in a healthy condition…should be the first study of our life. To neglect the body is to neglect the mind. …To indulge taste at the expense of health is a wicked abuse. Those who engage in intemperance, waste their physical energies and weaken moral power. They WILL feel the retribution which follows the transgression of physical law.

Q

Like the tree in the Garden….
I have the opportunity to exercise my
“Free Will”….

A

Like the tree in the Garden, I have the opportunity to exercise “my Free Will”!

By calling Adam and Eve to obey His will, God was saying: “I am your creator, and I have made you in my image. Your life is sustained by me. By me you will live and move and have your being. I have provided all things for your well-being and happiness—-sustenance, home, human companionship…..

If you are willing to affirm this relationship with me because you love me, then I will be your God and you will be my children. You can affirm this relationship and the trust implicitly in it by simply obeying the specific command.

In the end, our relationship with God can be effective and lasting only if we freely choose to accept his will. In essence, rejecting his well is to claim independence from Him. It indicates that we believe we do not need him.

That is a choice that results in the knowledge of evil, and evil leads to alienation, loneliness, frustration, and death.
