You don’t have any IB experience, why should we pick you over someone who has experience?
IB is about the type of person you are, not about how much past experience you have. Also, just because someone has experience doesn’t mean they’ve done well in that past experience. I believe my strengths play well to IB and that’s what makes me a good candidate.
You’re a smart guy with a lot of options. The economy is down and banks aren’t doing as well. Why do you still want to go into banking?
Talk about the long term and how entering now would allow you to see banking through both bad and good times. Additionally, short term difficulties don’t change my love of finance and wanting a career in IB.
Why Investment Banking now when you’ve done well in your previous experience?
I’m looking for a fast-paced challenging environment. In my previous back office role, I rarely got that but I craved it every day. IB gives me that chance to really challenge myself and make an impact.
