Identify the hazards, assess the risks, control the risks, review.
What are the most common categories of risks?
Physical, ergonomic (poor posture), psychosocial, biological (virus), chemical, electrical, mechanical.
Once risks have been identified what should be done?
Assess the consequences and likelihood.
What are the 6 potential hazards control measures in order?
- Eliminate the risk
- Substitute with safer alternative
- Isolate the hazard (keep it away)
- Use engineering controls to reduce risk (use a trolley)
- Use administrative controls to reduce risk (training)
- Use personal protective equipment
