Why do Farmers need to know about weather? (negative)
-Crops can be destroyed by wind and rain flattening them or flooding
-Animals would need to be sheltered inside barns
-Animals could not graze on grass so must provide food and shelter. (money)
-Frost can damage crops then they can save them by covering them
-Droughts can cause soil to dry up that has crops in it. They wither and turn brown (huge loss)
Why do people at sea need to know about weather? (negative)
- Keep navigation and travel safe
-People on oil rigs can get stranded from large winds, waves
-Thunderstorms/lighting hits ships and sinks them
-Fishermen could be caught in a storm or unable to fish. Can’t sell fish/need to fix boat
-Which path to choose when navigating (safest)
-Hurricanes/storms/tornadoes
-Abandon ship prevention (money)
-Cargo ships could contain plastic or harmful materials. Pollute the sea and kill sea wildlife
What are positive impacts of weather on Farmers?
Rain= crops grow
Sun= animals eat + graze outside
Rain= enough moisture to grow crops
Heat= allows certain crops to grow
What are positive impacts of weather for people at sea?
Low Waves= safe journey/not dangerous
No Fog= clear visibility
Calm Waters= easier to sail
No Storm= can contact navigation on land
