Why is it important for staff that work in an early years setting or school to know what resources are available?

What range of resources are available?

A
  1. Charities - can often put individuals in touch with other who are in similar circumstances and provide support with parenting skills.
  2. The NHS and healthcare centres - Although the NHS primarily provide help through physical healthcare, they also offer a range of children’s and young people’s services.
  3. Community Centres - These provide a meeting space for local groups such as youth clubs, uniformed organisations (cubs, brownies etc) and sports events. They may also facilitate self-help groups which have been set up to meet local needs.
  4. Citizens advice - offers a wide range of financial and legal advice as well as benefits which may be available to parents and families
  5. Social Services - provide support for individuals and families to help to improve outcomes through providing guidance. They can also provide support for families by getting them in touch with specialist organisations e.g services for refugees.
  6. Special Educational needs and disabilities information service (SENDAISS) - supports families of children who have SEND.
